Great news! SLAC IT’s Web Services is in the process of upgrading our Drupal 9 sites to Drupal 10.  As you may know, Drupal 9 is no longer supported by the Drupal community and we are excited to move our sites to an actively supported platform that will ensure we receive the latest security patches and module updates for our Drupal 10 sites.

The D10 updates will provide:

  • Enhanced security features
  • Improved performance
  • Updated backend architecture

We want to stress that this update is not adding new functionality or new layouts to the templates and your D10 site should work and look identical to your D9 site.  The D10 update should be transparent to your site’s visitors and your site’s content editors.

While the web team has done preliminary Drupal 10 testing, we want to provide an opportunity for our site owners (who know their sites best) to test their sites with the D10 update to ensure that everything is working properly.  Again, we don’t anticipate the D10 update will cause any issues with your site, but feel it is prudent to allow site owners an opportunity to review their D10 site in a test environment.

D10 Testing and Rollout Schedule

Site owner D10 Testing 8/23/2024 -  8/30/2024

D10 Rollout to Live Sites 9/3/2024 - 9/6/2024

How should I test?

We suggest opening two browser windows side by side, with the D10 test site in one browser and the D9 live site in the other browser to easily make side-by-side comparisons.

If you experience issues with your D10 test site, please submit a ServiceNow ticket and the web team will respond as soon as possible.  If the web team does not hear from you, we will continue to rollout Drupal 10 to your live site the first week of September.
